The Girl Who Wants To Be An Echo
Both sage and child, who sleeps and dreams with open eyes,
Who walks this earth, and walks the clouds.
Both entrant and bystander, who steals all paths,
And wanders and journeys, but stays in our hearts.
Both bright and foolish, who knows and knows not,
Who learns and yearns to only know a lot.
Who loves to laugh and likes to cry,
To hurt herself, to live and die.
Who belongs to the people, friendly and proud
Yet who’s all alone amidst a crowd.
Who’s weak and frail beneath a fragile shell,
But never, oh, never her soul will she sell.
Then her eyes so shine when hearts grow wings,
Her knees get weak, her spirit sings.
She loves the silence
But finds comfort in all the noise,
But silence nor noise, she’s neither.
For she only wants to be a little of everything,
To remain when she no longer remains,
To be an echo, never fading, never waning.
To leave an imprint
To live when she dies
To be remembered as the girl
As the girl who she was.
